TCA Precipitation

TCA precipitation of proteins from solutions

Take sample soln. (cold) and add TCA (100%), mix well to give a final TCA conc. of 20% TCA. Reaction should be carried on ice & sample left overnight on ice in cold room.

Spin for 30 min at 4C; aspirate the supernatant with gel loading tip, leave 5-10 ul in the tube so as not to disturb the pellet.

Wash with 2x500 ul of cold acetone. After each wash spin for 10 min.

Speed vacuum for 5 min.
